In the best traditions of Test Match Special - please mention and continue to add your champagne moments of the 2007 season.
My entry so far is;
Botany Bay v HWCC - Sunday 15th July
Wilkes bowls a head high full bunger which batman tries to leather - only to pop up to extra cover stood about 10 yards away. Thankfully the cricketing knowledge of our esteemed umpire (one of the few on the pitch who knew the laws) prevented both batsman and bowler from further embarassment!
A nice bottle of Moet (which has been in my fridge for nearly 2 years) will be presented to the best entry at the end of the season!
The Champagne Moment is a good idea and in my "watching" position in most matches, I will mentally note anything that is worthy of mention. There's been a few already this season - such as Sam's "negative bowling down the leg side" against Shepperton, Aman being let off the catch money as it was deemed "too hard", Praveen's monster 6 against Paddington, Laney speaking fluent Martian after the same game, and so on - the list will be extensive come the season's end.
Also to be posted on this forum will be the announcement of "International Cake Day" probably at the NPL match - this will be announced in advance so as to hopefully forestall any attempted stitch ups by Johnny W this year!!
'being let off catch money because it is too hard'..
Never heard anything so ridiculous.
Get your hands up...
Don't get me started I was talking to Steve and Jonah about this in the car on the way to Botany Bay, and found myself getting quite annoyed about this even then, a month later!!!! Actually, I'm getting annoyed about it now And I got fined for one at Eastcote that I ran in ten yards for, dived at and didn't even get a hand on..... Right, where's my gun!
I know - when I used to play, U.S. was very strict about anything that even touched a fingernail being deemed to be a "drop" and therefore worth 50 pence. And of all people to let Aman off, it was J.P., the original "Get yer hands up" man.
I'm think of demanding a refund even after all these years!

Bloody hell.....no offence mate, but we'd need a sugar daddy like Roman Abromovich for the club to refund all your dropped catch money
[Mental note to self: If ball touches pads at Enfield - and lets be honest, it usually does - just walk off the bloody pitch as soon as the appeal goes up ]
