Well, another season has come and gone and it has to be said that this one has been somewhat disjointed and to be honest, perhaps not the most enjoyable.

True, there have been some highlights - the tour being one of them when we were blessed with some decent weather in the middle of an a rain filled summer. There were also some decent matches - Paddington, Chenies, Sidmouth and Shepperton as well as some funny moments and quotes, which have all been covered in this forum.

However, the overwhelming feelings for me are those of frustration with the weather - we never seemed to be able to play more than 3 weeks on the bounce without either having a break for the weather or for a bank holiday weekend, frustration with availability - what happened with the weekend of the NPL game for example, when we couldn't even raise a squad of 8 for a six a side tournament? And finally, frustration with cheating, the most outrageous example of which was seen yesterday at Hanwell.

There are times when one wonders whether it's all worthwhile. It is of course and thanks are due to all those who played this season. If you played most weeks, then you know how grateful I am. If you only played occasionally, then we're grateful for your help - if you enjoyed it, then play a few more next season - there will always be space for you!

Personal thanks are due to Richard for skippering, to Tim for deputising on more than a few occasions, to JP for looking after the money (and not leaving it anywhere this season) to all those who did their share of umpiring and scoring duties (JP and Johnny W come to mind), to all those who provided the transport and finally to Sam for setting up this facility, which I think all will agree has given us more than a few laughs this season.

Let's hear from you, the players - what's your take on this season?

Agreed re: the weather - was very frustrating and always seemed to rain whenever I was supposed to play Crying or Very sad

Hear hear to the comments above and also big applause for Steve's work in chasing, organising fixtures and officiating - a thankless task that I'm sure you will all agree we'd be lost without.

Very enjoyable to be back Wandering again after a few years away from the action.

Keep the banter up during the long winters months.

Mike, thanks for those kind words - it was good to have you back on the scene. As you say, let's keep the banter going during the winter.
